Check out the following sites:

http://www.military.com/ASVAB
http://www.asvab.us/test.php
http://www.march2success.com

You should be able to get some practice on test similar to the ASVAB and additionally, some advise on what you need to do to improve your scores.

The score you need for 19D (Cavalry Scout) is 87 on the CO component.

Yes, the ASVAB is a timed exam and yes, you also get the chance to work out the math problems.

I took the ASVAB test yesterday..................and PASSED!
My enlistment date is June 17th!
My recruiter assures me i will be getting the 20k bonus,
Full college payment (from the NG),
Plus a lot of other goodies,
but the main thing is,
i get to be a military police! (That's what i was trying to get and now i did)
SSWWEETT!
Part of me is scared shitless lol
But Am really looking forward to getting to serve my country :D
I have no doubts the training will not be easy, but bring it on!

Congratulations on passing and getting the MOS you wanted.

How bad was the ASVAB?

Good luck to you.

it's a 3 hour test (and a 30 minute wait just to get into the testing room), it asks a million different questions (have the stuff i have never heard of) but did well enough.
The room was atleast 80+ degrees (with no A.C.) (i wish i was joking),
a couple kids that were near me bombed the test :(
It's a very long test even though it is timed, try your best to take your time (you won't fail if you skip a question, but if you run out of time instead.........-I came close to running out of time a couple times, other times i flew right through the questions=some are hard some are easy)

Are you smart or what and what did you make?

You CAN pas if you skip a questions, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you skip a question, then that question will be graded as wrong. Instead, try to eliminate a couple of possible answers, and take your best guess out of the remaining questions. Congratulations, DJ for passing and getting into the Guard. It sounds like you have the right attitude.

Yeah, im going to try my best if I don't know the answer im going to guest on it or try to pick the good answer as I call it. I think if I set my goals high I can pass it! If not its back to the books again.

A people just a note: If you don't know the answer GUESS! Its better then not even giving a answer. Because you are given points for evey question you pass you are not disquaifled and you won't risk any points that you have miss. The just grade on the pass question

thankfully, i didn't have to skip any questions, but yes, guessing is better than skipping a Q

There are a multiple number of sites that have things to help you study for the ASVAB. The ones the come to my mind right away are http://www.military.com and then you have http://www.ASVAB.com

What is a good score to get?? Is there a score that will open up good things and what kinds of MOS's could someone get if the had a score in like the high 80's

High 80's should get you anything you want but the breakdown is the most important. If your GT score is 110+ you should be able to get into any MOS you want(unless u scored very low on some other area that the job you want necesitates).

I took the ASVAB today and the little slip I got back said I got an AFQT of 88. How long would it take for my recruiter to get the rest of the breakdown??

This LINK (http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyjoin/l/blarasvabscores.htm) should help answer your question.

Hmm..im not sure. I took it at school and they only gave me a slip with my AFQT score. Then like 2 weeks later i sat down with a recruiter and he just had them.

They supply you with scratch paper and that is the only paper you are allowed. No calculators. They will also give ya the pencil to use.

My high school senior daughter scored a 99 on her ASVAB test recently....is that good? What are the average scores for HS seniors who take this test?

That is a GREAT score. You can not score any higher. Most HS Seniors that I have enlisted scored anywere from 50-75.

So, help me out here. What does a high score like this mean for her....how many attain this "perfect" score? Does the military seek out these students who do well on the test? Is there some area in particular that she would be recommended for, or would that depend on her individual strengths and interests? We do have the Air Guard unit in nearby Sioux City, Iowa, and I know they come to the HS and talk to the kids each year. My daughter has been accepted at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD and will begin classes there this fall. Should she at least consider part-time in the guard? How hard is it to attend college and do that? I do not come from a family of military people, so I'm rather lost. Thanks for any information you can give me.

Her score will let her choose from a wider list of Mos (job's in the army). There are some that are closed to females but to be honest they aren't really geared to female psychology on the most part. She qualifies for the GI kicker
which is a little extra money for college. If she has specific interests she should talk with a requiter - you can come along too and ask questions. There is also an option called college first that you might want to mention to her.

I got a 64 on mine and I'm able to do whatever's available to females. All you need on the ASVAB is a 31 to enlist. There are perks though, like extra money for school, but that's about it.
