im a 42 yr old former marine. served 5 yrs active. honorable discharge in 88. 2 yrs ago i went to the ng recruiter in staten island, ny and went through the process of enlisting. passed the asvab an physical with flying colors. except for 1 thing. checked off that little box that said i saw a psychologist. the only reason i went to him is cause i worked nights for the postal service for 12 yrs an just wanted a note to get off. they brought in some civilian shrink who dq'ed me before my butt even hit the chair. long story short my recruiter said wait 6 mths and we'll put in a waiver. from everything ive been reading,it should have been done right away and somewhat easy. any advice would be appreciated...also,any ng recruiters in the tri-state that can help leave your name an number...thanks

You are correct...there is no reason to wait 6 months. If you were a little closer to Upstate NY, I would run the waiver, and have you in the Vermont National Guard in a Month. You should ask your recruiter why he (or she) wants to wait 6 months. You can always find another recruiter and see if they'll do it any faster.

ssg fletcher, thanks for the response. i have another recruiter whos working on it now. said the same thing you did. im going to keep your name and number. this recruiter seems to know his stuff but if i get the runaround,or hit any snags, i have no problems joining in vermont. have a house in lake george i dont get to enough anyway.

I can work with you, im basically right across the river, so send me a email or call me on my cell, we can get together and i can put in a waiver on you as soon as we have all the necessary documents.
