you always start as 2nd Lt. It takes alot of time too work your way up to those birds. ask your self this, have u ever seen a young colonel? my advice, is enter enlisted. I think after 90 credit hours of school you can go to ocs and become Lt at the same time the other boys are getting out of ROTC.

I am currently a junior in Highschool and I just recently joined the National Guard. I plan to go to college and commission into the active duty. Anyways too me I think its a win win situation by joining the ARNG while still in highschool. Firstly you will be more experience than the rest of the guys just coming out of rotc. Secondly you get all the benefits of having been in the ARNG such as the 100 percent tuition and Montgomery GI bill. And anyways in the end you'll probably finish your 4 year degree and be able to pick up a commission in the same amount of time as those who just went through rotc, only you'll have far more experience and will be able to better relate with the enlisted guys seeing as you just were one.

And yea no matter what if you commission you start out as a 2nd Lt. and you will also need a BA degree (4 years in college)
