It depends on were the tatoos are. If they are on the back of your neck than they are acceptable placement wise. Now MEPS will determine if they conform to US Army Guidlines.

If they show over your collar then you cannot join. See if they can be removed.

I have a tattoo on my neck as well(right on the side about 2 inches high)..i went to MEPS today for the army national guard, the doctor writes it down and if he is questionable about it he will ask a liasion officer...they let me pass but i had to get counciled (with my recruiter)about it, which basically means you promise to get it removed before you ship to BCT.This might happen in your case as well. Hope this helps

Just to let you know the policy has changed. You can have tattoos on the back of your neck and on your hands. The criteria is that they are not extremest or gange realted. Also a tattoo can not go past the ears. The change came out last year.

what about if you are prior service and you had them while you were in the service, then you get out but did not get any more and you come back into the military with tattoo's, do you get grandfathered to come back in with them? thanks for the response.

Once agin go see a recruiter. They will have the policy and can look at your tats and tell you if the ones on your neck will be ok. We can't as recruiters here in this forum tell you if you will be ok becasue we can not see you in person. Thats why you need to go see a recruiter.

If you didn't get anymore than it will not be a problem. The tattoo ploicy that is being posted about is about having tat's on hands and kneck.

Tattoos do not affect MOS selection. Once your tattoos are cleared by MEPS as being within the regulations, you can choose what you're qualified to select according to your line scores.
