I would like to join. But I want to make sure the job I pick is the one I get. Can anyone assure me of this?

Your recruiter can help determine which jobs are available, and if you qualify for them. When you enlist, you enlist for a specific slot in the guard. If you go down to MEPS, and you find out you don't qualify for the specific job you want, you don't have to sign the papers. Simple as that.

I want to be involved in firefighting or CFR if that is the only other option. I am currently certified as a FF/EMT-B.

When you sit down with a recruiter, they'll have a position your interested in already available. They'll tell you whether or not if the job is available. If the state needs firefighters (most likely in a Chinook state) they'll find one for you.

Where you go to basic depends on your MOS and training availability. You could go to FT. Jackson, Ft. Leanordwood, or Ft. Sill
