Hi, I am interested in joining the National Guard, and I have a few questions:
Does National Guard have active duty posts or just reserve?
If I go active duty, would I serve most of the time in my hometown, or would I be transfered somewherelse?
I pay child support, would I make enough money in basic training to cover my child support payments?

Yes the Guard has what is known as Active Guard Reserve positions. If you got one of the jobs then you could serve in your local armory, or as a recruiter. Now you can not join the Guard as a new soldier and go into a full time AGR position. You have to apply for one just like any other job. Also in BCT you will be paid based on rank. here is a link to the 2007 pay scale. http://www.dod.mil/dfas/militarypay/2006militarypaytables/2007_Web_Pay_Table.pdf
The first scale is based on Active Duty pay. that is what you will be paid in BCT. Starting out in the Guard you will be an E-1 unless you have college credits or you referr 1-2 other people and get promoted.
