Question Regarding MEPS

my recruiter wants me to go to MEPS in the beginning of june, i really dont want to go until the middle of june...Am i allowed to attend MEPS whenever i want or is there specific dates you have to attend?

He can't make you do anything you don't want to do. If you want to go the middle of June, tell him!

He probably wants you to go in the begining of June because it fits better in his schedule. Recruiters are busy people and usually have several applicants that are all trying to get into the Guard. Also, the more time that passes, the more chance there is that something will happen that will prevent you from going to MEPS. (ie: girlfriend talks you out of it, you break your arm, a recruiter from another branch of service tries to get you to switch over, etc)

True Story:
I had an applicant one time that had been trying to lose weight for over a year, and finally was within the standard. He wanted to join, had passed the ASVAB with a great score, and was ready to take the physical. I asked him if he could go to MEPS on friday (it was about three days away). He said he'd rather have the weekend to goof off and hang out with his friends and he'd go on Monday. That weekend, he was goofing off like he said he was going to, fell off a 20 foot dock at the beach, hit his head and was in a coma for almost a week. Needless to say, he didn't end up joining the National Guard. (although he still wishes he could).

The bottom line is, you can go to MEPS whenever you want, but putting it off can often lead to circumstances that change the plan. Recruiters have seen this happen many times and are trained to try to avoid a situation that can jeopardize the enlistment. If you want to join and are ready to go to MEPS why would you want to wait an extra two weeks?

honestly, i wanna make sure im clean fully for the urine test...ive stopped smoking marijuana since i got interested in joining the National guard which has been about a week and ahalf..i was quite a frequent user and ir eally dont know how long it takes to get outta your system, but i heard if i failed that i wouldnt beable to go back to MEPS for 3 years...its also one of my many reasons why i want to join the military(to get clean fully) but i really want to join and dont want something stupid that i did before to stop me..this is all ive been living for the past week and half.

Understandable...I'm sure if you have explained the situation to your recruiter he or she will not set you up for failure and allow you to take the drug test before you are ready. Just make sure that you tell your recruiter about your drug use. In your case, it may be better to wait until the middle of June.

You are going to need to give yourself time before you go to M.E.P.S , if you are under any use of narcotic,Drug. Your Recruiter Will set you up to pass, not for failure. Always check in with your Recruiter. M.E.P.S is all wait and go. Just be ready and you'll get through it, good luck with the DUCK. you'll know when you get their
