Hello,

I am new to the website and to this forum and was wondering if anyone can answer a few questions for me. I am interested in joining 91w. Do I need any prior experience in the medical field to do this? Are there entrance examinations that I need to take to get in? Basically my understanding is that you go through basic training and then pick a specialty. Is this right? Any help is greatly appreciated.

To be a 91W (Medical Specialist) you do not need to have any prior medical experience. You must pass the ASVAB (and get certain "line scores" required for the medical field) and pass a MEPS physical. You pick your job before you enlist, and before you go to basic training. Get in contact with your local recruiter and he or she will explain in further detail what you need to do.

for the 91w mos you need to get a line score of 95 on GS I believe on the asvab. and you have to pass meps. I just enlisted as a 91W an leave in feb. 2007 the ait is in Sam houston texas i believe for 16 weeks. not sure I just know that i will be gone for roughly 6 and a half months. you don't need any prior medical experience. I would really talk to a recruiter. hope this helps
