I am told i am getting 100% tuition. What do i need to do to get them to pay it? Will they do it automatically or do I need to do something?

the up to 100% tuition has a cap of how much, not to exceed $250 per semester hour and will be limited to $4500 per person per fiscal year. which means 100% if ur school is less than that.

To answer your question, you should talk to your recruiter he or she may have the forms you need to fill out. If not, your recruiter can direct you to the State Education Officer. They will help you submit any paperwork you need to fill out. You can also check on http://www.virtualarmory.com and there is a link to educational benefits.

What if your full tuition is only about $2,980? Will it be fully paid? I filled out the forms online today and it said that it was 460 per hr, but the flat rate was only the $2,980.

The federal tuition assistance limits are $250/credit hour, not to exceed $4500/fiscal year, not to exceed 100% of tuition. Your state may have its own tuition assistance that will bridge the gap. Speak to your Recruiter or unit Readiness NCO. Once you complete AIT, you'll be eligible for Montgomery GI Bill, which can also help bridge the gap. You can draw GI Bill regardless of your tuition cost.

Lookin' at joining guard now that i'm done w/ 4 years active duty. Can I use the 100% TA to pay for my school and still collect my MGIB? So school would be paid for in full (because it is less than the max cap on the TA) and I would get a check made to me every month for my MGIB?

A lot of the states have what is called a Tuition waiver, such as NJ that it is a 100 percent tuition waiver 16 credits per semester every semester untill ur doctorits degree.

Basicaly that means you can get your PHD and not every pay a penny in tuition.

What happens if you join the NJ guard but live in a different state? Would they still waiver the tuition if you went to lets say Rutgers University?

Federal TA works at any accredited university. That's not a problem. For state TA, you'd need to attend a school in the state in whose Guard you are a member. Your state of residence isn't germane. Thus, if you're a NC resident but a member of the Virginia ARNG (as I was for seven years) and attend a Virginia school, then you can use Virginia's state TA in addition to the federal TA.
