Hard Knox or Relaxin' Jackson

Is there a difference on the difficulty of various BCT locations. At MEPS I talked with several other applicants and prior service and they were comparing BCT locations. Relaxin' Jackson was said to be the easiest and Hard Knox more difficult. Are these just nicknames or is there really a difference. As you may have guessed I will Basic in "Hard Knox" and AIT at Aberdeen.

All basic training locations are meant to be difficult. The nicknames are just that...nicknames. I went to basic training at Fort Benning, GA (Infantry) and in my opinion, that is one of the most difficult basic training locations that the Army has to offer. My battalion (2/58) was known as the "hard-core" battalion. There was another battalion (1/50) that was known as "candy-land", but I can tell you from talking to some of the soldiers that graduated from that battalion that there was no candy involved. People come up with nicknames that rhyme with the post, or by stereotypes and stories that they hear. Fort Jackson is certainly not relaxing and Fort Knox may be known as the school of "hard knox", but not more so than any other location. My best advice is to expect it to be extremely difficult and you won't be dissapointed. No matter where you attend BCT, you will be challenged mentally and physically.

i agree every place has a nickname ill tell u this i went to fort jackson this summer an its deffinatley not relaxing

My son is at Knox, and while he sounds worn out everytime we talk/write, I don't think it's harder than what other's have said there BCT sites were. Ofcourse, how does anybody really know unless they've been to more than 1 BCT? (and who would go to BCT twice on purpose? :D )
Just get in shape and do what you are told! Easy for me to say, huh!

I'm going to Basic training for the second time at age 30! LOL. So some people do. I graduated from basic training at Fort Benning in April of 2000. I hope this next time around I am more prepared both physically and mentally. Anyway, thought you might find it amusing that, yes, there are people that go to basic training more than once of their own free will. LOL. God bless!
