Howdy, old 11b here, 34 years old (discharged in 98) wondering what he has to do to get back into the Guard. Happy to stay in the infantry (as long as the body agrees) but wondering if I have to go back to basic or what? Remember a lot of stuff, and I'm hoping the rest will come back in time.
Thanks in advance

I am older Infantry (37) so no issues with age. No you do not have to go back to basic, and you will get retrained on new procedures and equipment when you get to your new unit. As well there is online training available in the form of the Army Correspondance Course Program to help you get back in the groove.
You may need to retake the ASVAB unless you have remaining MSO time, so be prepared for the ASVAB and a new MEPS physical.

Thanks both. LRSU, are there still Guard LRS detachments out there? I'm in Ohio, and I'm fairly certain all of ours have been deactivated. Did my three years in the 82nd, and the only way to get your jump pay as an 11b around here is to go thru the q-course, and both my body and my wife don't have that kind of tolerance anymore.
Appreciate the quick responses folks.

There are some LRS detachments out thee, but be advised you should try to contact the unit to ensure it has slots, as well has no plans of changing. Use the foolowing link to get an idea of the current units out there.

Also, be aware that you will be required to attend Ranger school and the RSLC for NCO positions. From what I can tell, Indiana and the 151 INF LRSD may be the closest to you.

Looks like I need to go talk to the recruiter on Monday.
Appreciate all the help.

Basically the only Infantry Battalion left in ohio is 1-148th INF (M). We do have some slots in the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, but you would have to get in contact with a recruiter for availability.
