ok if you have a medical problem like asthma would that disqualify you to join the national guard? iv heard if your diagnosed after 15 you can't but im not sure if thats true or not if anyone knows please tell me

I had one of my applicants who hasn't had an episode or used an inhaler since he was 13 years old permanently disqualified two days ago. He runs 2 miles on a regular basis without any trouble but MEPS considered him enough of a risk to disqualify him for enlistment. If you were diagnosed after 15 you'll most likely be disqualified for service in the Guard.

that it may be Bronc and not Asthma. One is in/ the other out. One is also frequently misdiagnosed as the other. The best way to judge is to run in hot and cold weather and see if you have problems. if you can run for 3 miles at sub zero and 90+ degrees, lie. If that is not the case, don't risk it.
What needs to be understood is not that we have to run 5 miles every friday but that we do it in all conditions. Some are worse, some are better. I was at Ft Drum for a little while and these cats were calling cadence at -17 degrees! because that is what 10th Mnt guys do.
So think of the worst possible and think if you would have a hard time breathing. That should be how you measure things.

PS Yes, I think you should lie if you think you can pull off what I have said. I am not a recruiter, I'm just an overpaid trashman [EOD]. I also love the miliaty and think it helps more than it hurts. For every person that gets screwed by the Army, I see 10 that are better off. Same can be saidwith the other branches of service.
