I am new to this forum (obviously). Thinking about MP. My background is in Security and Corrections. Are there any MPs out here that can give me encouragement. If I join I'd really like to get into CID. But still on the fence

I'm An Mp. I've Been To Iraq. The Duties Mp's Get Are Varied. You Can Be On Gate Duty, Local National Watch, Convoy Escort Or On Foot Patrol. I Loved It. I Strongly Encourage You To Go For A Career As An Mp. You Go On Raids, Cordon And Searches And Other High Missions. Best Of Luck To You.
Sincerely Phil07

most other MOS's will hate you. We got shot at by an MP unit while in Iraq. Talk about ripping someone a new one. We had MP's with us at our FOB. We outnumbered them greatly, so were able to keep them in check.

I was an MP from 1976-1984. Back then everything was law enforcement oriented and you didn't really go to the field unless you were attached to an Infantry unit. We patrolled the bases, worked the gates, traffic, preliminary crime scene investigation, etc......exactly like our civilian counterparts.
From what I understand now, law enforcement duties are handled by DA Police and Security. The only "real" cops for the Army are CID Agents.
