I am a single parent. I work full time as a Licensed veterinary technician. I have one daughter(She is 3yrs old). I want to help my community. So i was thinking about joining but was not sure I can because of my daughter. All the benefits that the army offers would be a big help for me and her. I am also thinking of a change in my career (nurse). Is there a program that the army offers for single parents like me? Would I be able to join and be able to be with my daughter? Is there childcare available?
Thanks for your input

You can join as a single parent. All you need to do is complete a Family Care Plan so your child will be looked after while you are in training. You DO NOT need to give up custody to join the GUARD. Talk to a recruiter in your area and they will be able to help you out with this and Good Luck.

What kinda help u wanna do in ur community. I volunteer as a free health clinic for people without insurance based on financial situation. Im pretty sure u can find someway to help in ur community. As a single parent u can get a good amount of financial aid, also because nurses as in high demmand a lot of jobs would give u tuition re-embursement. Some colleges even have daycares. So u dont have to leave ur little girl behind for a period of time to do all this, and if ur unit gets deployed it would be even longer before u see her again. just talk to the college u wanna go to. u'll be surprises all the help is out there.
