I resigned my active Army commission in 2005. Is it possible to still join the ARNG as an officer?
Discharge was Honorable.

Based on what you've mentioned, I see nothing that would disqualify you. Speak to your state's Officer Strength Manager, http://www.1800goguard.com/officer/osm.html.

Thanks for the link Sir. I'll contact the Officer Strength Manager. What are the "hoops" one has to generally jump through to get reinstated?

You'll need to do three basic things:
Take a MEPS physical.
Apply for a security clearance.
Provide the OSM with a list of documents to verify your eligibility for service. See my checklist linked here to get started (http://www.virginiaguard.com/goguard/osm/checklists/Reappointment_Packet_Checklist.doc), but verify what the OSM of your state wants.
Once you have complied with the three steps above, your OSM will schedule your appearance in front of a Federal Recognition Board (FRB), which reviews your file, and if they determine that you have indeed met all criteria they'll grant you back your commission. If your packet makes it in front of an FRB, you are well assured of success, because at least two other sets of eyes will review it first. The FRB won't reject you for a capricious reason, only for your failure to meet the selection criteria.
