Hi! I was told that by doing the college first program I could not be deployed during my college career. The website says this program is only valid for two years; but my recruiter says that this program is renewable. I want to attend undergraduate school and then medical school (total of 8 years). Is this program renewable; is there a way to ensure that my deployment does not occur until after college and also residency? Thanks

From what i know it is not renewable, but you can attent ROTC after the first 2 years, so you can get basicaly 4 years of non deployable status, no way you will get 8 years though

It isnt renewable. And if you want to finish 4 years in college, tell the guard, they will put you in an ROTC slot that will gurantee you to e in the guard after graduation. Its alo tbetter to be an officer with those four years IMO..besides a guard recruiter told me the guard is low on officers across the board.

this program is not guarantied anyways so u in reality can get deployed at any time.

ok once again exvet, you are incorrect, please if you do not know what your talking about do not post it. The college first program is guareented that you will not get deployed in your first 2 years at college, as long as you attend college full time and enroll in college within 60 days after returning from AIT. To qualify for this program you must score above a 50 on your ASVAB.

Again, Once u are in the military they can do whatever they want, please stop this candy coding. The reality is that yes u get it but if they need u they are going to do whats best for them.

One this one exvet you are right and wrong. Yes being in the military they can do ALMOST anything they want, but if College First is in your contract then yes you are stabilized for the 2 years. That is in writting and unbreakable.

However, when I read the written rules outlining the CF Program, I did see that you can be activated by the governor, or by a new deployment order from SecDef.

You are right on that NightStalker. The Govenor can call you up for disasters in your state, but a deployment order from the Sec Def would be for a NEW conflict. We are in a current conflict so if a unit is called up and you are in the College First Option then you are stabilized. Now if you volunteered for deployment than your time in the CF is paused and when you come back from deployment then time starts back up.

OK. You inadvertently cleared up a question I was wondering about.
Thanks.
