Any advice on how to shape the beret correctly. Heard tips about shaving beret inside and out, spritsing with water and wearing until dry. All comments and suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I was told basically the same. I received mine Saturday during drill went home and worked on mine most of the evening. The shaving is going to take time. I was told to wear it in the shower and get it soaking wet shape then place it on a pot or something similar and let it dry. Seemed to work but I have some more work to do on it.

That's basically it. If the beret you have comes with a liner, cut it out. Then dry shave the beret, inside and out until the little wool hairs are all off. You should be able to see the fibers of the wool once the hairs are all off. Then rinse it really well, and wring it out, and shave it again. (rinse and repeat just like the shampoo directions!) Be careful not to cut the beret, or you will have a hole in it and it will be unserviceable. Once it's shaved, soak it in hot water for a few minutes to get all the rest of the shavings off, and to saturate the fabric. Wring it out tie the string in the back with a square knot. Make sure it is snug to your head, but not too tight. Then once the knot is tight, snip off the ends and singe the ends with a lighter to prevent them from freying. Form the beret to your head with the flap on the right side, and the flash over your left eye. The knot should be centered on the back of your head. Smooth out all the wrinkles and press the flap down firmly against the right side of your head to get any excess water out. Press down, with your left hand, behind the flash so it forms against the front of your head. Once it is formed the way you want it, you can carefully take it off and hang it on a doorknob to dry. (you can leave it on if you want to, but it will take several hours to dry completely, and you might scare the neighbors if they see you walking around in a beret and boxer shorts). Once it's dry, put it on and wear it with pride.

Anybody know what to do if you're seeing a Green Beret as a friend? I'm going to ask to read his DD214. He is a good friend, but doesn't like the green beret as part of the NG uniform. He hates it, in fact. All advice taken. Thanks in advance.
