Does prior use of an illegal substance "pot" disqualify or exclude you from service?
Enlisted or Officer-bound?
I think I can count about five, individual times that I've used it...the last time being in 2003...I have absolutely no desire to touch the substance again.
I have never had any drug-convictions either.

Well just say no on you forum if it ask's you on the forum. Have you smoked in the pass 60 days ? If your answer is NO then it should be out of your system. I use to smoke once in awhile I stoped because I want to join the National Guard.

Since you haven't smoke since 2003 your drug free!

No, it does not disqualify you.

Well, I know they ask on the form and in MEPS if you've smoked EVER in your life...I'm really not interested in lying seeing as how that would kind of go against the integrity that I'm supposed to have as a soldier.
Would it be held against me if I wanted to become an Officer?

As long as it was 5 times or less, and you tell them about it, and never do it again, you will not be disqualified from being an officer in the National Guard.

VTguard how about if you don't tell them and if they don't find out or something?

If they don't find out, you'd be lucky. If they do find out, you will run the risk of getting a dishonorable discharge. The easiest thing to do for everyone involved is DO NOT LIE.

Ping is right. If you never told them, they may never find out...but its one of those integrity things. If you can get in by admiting to what you have done, then why would you want to lie. It's not a very good way to start off your military career.
