Hello everyone

I am new to this board and soon will be new to the guard. I was wondering if I will receive active duty pay during basic and AIT training? if so will I also get housing and food allowances? (I am married with dependents)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim. Welcome aboard...no pun intended LOL While you are at basic and ait, you are considered active duty. So you will get full time pay, which is based on your rank. I also have dependents but I'm a single mom so I'm not sure how it would work for your situation. As for housing allowance, I received BAH and separation. The amount of BAH is based on the area where you live. For instance, mine was $540 a month but a guy from WI only got $200+ a month. So that amount will vary. I believe the separation pay is a flat $250 a month, no matter how many dependents you have.

Hope this helps!

thank you flguardgirl. I am married with two kids. It is good to know that they will get the housing allowance since it makes a tremendeous difference in my area (BAH for E1 is $880)

Thank you for your time

Jim

Don't you receive BAH2 instead of BAH? Because BCT is under 140 days.
