When I tell my boss that I'll be going away for a while to WTC and AIT, he can't fire me, can he? My job is protected, correct?

Does anyone know what it's like at AIT for prior service?

By law, you cannot lose your job.

BUT...there is no guarentee than your position will still be there when you get back. You will still be employed, but if your position is done away with, you may have problems.

In my situation, I work full time at an ambulance company. I work two nights during the week and a 24-hour shift every Saturday. I will have a full time position when I get back, but I can't be promised to have those same shifts back.

Hope that helps.

By law your employment is protected. This means you keep your same pay rate but they do not have to give you your same position back. You also are supposed to get all pay raises and have the opportunities for promotion. If you would like more info google ESGR this is the organization that governers soldiers employment rights.
