according to the height/weight requirement tables i am underweight. i am 5'7 and about 110 lbs, but the minimum weight is 120 lbs. i am going to meps within the next week or two so i cant really gain ten pounds - what is going to happen? do i need to gain ten pounds before i can enlist, or before bct or what?
thanks!

I am not a recruiter but did experience this issue. During my talks with recruiter before going to MEPS he asked me how much I weighed. Taking a guess, I said 100 pounds give or take a few pounds in either direction. I'm 5' 2'', minimum for this height is 98 pounds. I have flab in areas I never even knew existed ten years ago, and at that time weighed 100 pounds, so thought this was a safe estimate. Got to MEPS, and I weighed 93.4 pounds. The doctor told me I was disqualified and wrote down I was to come back in three weeks to get reweighed. After finishing all the medical testing that day and getting to the Guard recruiting office at MEPS, they looked it up and told me underweight in the Guard is waiverable up to five pounds under. I was 4.6 pounds under. Recruiter started paperwork and phone calls, I got the waiver within two hours and was sworn in that day. The waiver is good forever. I can be up to five pounds under forever. They weigh you at RSP drill (I actually lost a few tenths-working out hard and havent increased my calorie intake enough) and they get dissapointed in you, but esentially i'll have until basic training (Sept. of next year) to be within the five pounds under or more range.
