Hi,

I am 35, a father of three, college graduate preparing to start my MBA in December, and am looking to join the guard. I am in Operations Research, quite healthy and fit (I run 3-5 miles, 3-5 days a week).
First question; I'm not sure what the cut off age for the guard is?
Second; what kind of money am I looking at per month?
Third; how do the bonuses work (I feel that I have special talents that could be useful)?

Any advice/answers are greatly appreciated.

First off, thanks for considering serving with the Army National Guard. With your Bachelors Degree you would come into the Guard as an E-4, paying a lil over $2000 p/month if you have dependents, which you do.
The dependents that you have may be an issue though. You'd need a waiver having three kids if they're under 18, but that's not too tough.
The max age for enlistment was just bumped up to 42.
The bonuses right now are $20,000 for six year enlistment for 30 different jobs, you can get $15,000 for just about any other job and the Guard would throw in another $5,000 if you agreed to ship out within 60 days of enlistment.

Any other questions, please ask!

Let me see if I can answer your questions.... First, cutoff age is now 42, so oyur good to go there. Second your pay amount will depend on your enlistment, are you considering joining as an Officer Enlistment option  ? If not, you could join as an E4 with a pay rate of $221.71 per month for a weekend of drill (keep in mind you will earn more while on Active Duty at Basic Training and your job training). Hope this helps.

thanks for the response gentlemen. I minored in Geography, where I studied GIS programming, and cartography, so I think I could fit into a useful position.

Is WTC for PS that join the ARNG or just for Army and Army Reserves?
