What happens when an OCS candidate declines a commission?

An OCS candidate who declines commission will return to his unit at the rank in which he entered OCS. He'll serve the remainder of his enlisted contract in that capacity. If he hasn't completed AIT, his unit will schedule him for that.

IST procedure is the same for officer and enlisted. The higher the pay grade, the harder it is to find a valid position, of course.

Tom, we've discussed this before, haven't we? Give me a call, because I have an email from your state's G1 promising that your state won't play games with IST requests. If your chain of command isn't giving you a straight answer, every Soldier has the right to contact the Inspector General.

Its pretty easy, your suppose to be allowed to decline your commision right after your training, if you are commisioned you can just resign your commision.
