The U.S. Military has a "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. No one is allowed to ask about your Sexual Orientation and you are expected to keep it private. I agree with CHICKEN, bragging about being *** is probably not the best thing to in a barracks full of men that PT all day.

Its also against the 'rules' to go arount telling people you are *** if you are enlisted in the military and it can be punished if im correct.

So yes, its ok for him to join but if he plans on being openly *** it could be an issue or if he is very femanin it could also cause problems(teasing from other recruits, ect.)

When you enlist you are no longer a civilian while in uniform. You don't have the same rights. Whatever the military says is a crime, IS A CRIME. No if's, and's or but's about it. If its unconstitutional the lawyers will figure it out. Your job as a soldier is to follow orders.

Folks, if it is not already apparent, CIV is either too stupid to join the military or is playing games with you. I highly suspect he/she/it is a toff-wannabe trying to play social games for his/her/its own gratification with no benefit to the military or country.

Check out his/her other posts, and ignore him/her/it.

Being *** is not against military law and will not subject you to criminal penalties. It is deemed to be incompatible with the military and you will be chaptered out if you disclose it. During my active duty military career, I know several soldiers, who were discharged for being ***. There were many others that everyone believed were ***. None were in any way assaulted because of it.

Anyone that cannot control him/herself and restrain themselves from attacking or assaulting another soldier, then he/she does not belong in the military. The Army is for mature, self-disciplined men and women not out of control juveniles.

p.s. I have only addressed being *** in the above passage, homosexual acts are a different story

Ok, here I go. Just on the off chance that you are serious and not just trying to be a shithead I'll throw my .02 into this post. If your "friend" is *** and truly has a desire to serve than by all means he should. That having been said though, he will need to stay in the closet (or foot-locker) with his homosexuality. It is a UCMJ ((http://www.nacua.org/nacualert/memberversion/Solomon/FN3_10USC654.html)) (Uniform Code of Military Justice) punishable offence due to the belief that homosexuality is incompatible with military service.
The Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Don’t Persue policy requires a homosexual serviceman to keep their sexual orientation a secret and to not engage in any homosexual behavior while a member of the armed forces. If your friend does decide to enlist than it will be in his best intrest to keep to himself. The military, regardless of branch is an extremely homogeneous place. We all dress, talk, and look similar and anything that is different is a threat. Just remember that the nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

Lol, that has to be a text-book example of a liberal response.

Back on subject, as long as your "friend" keeps his mouth shut about his orientation, and not "flaming", he should be fine.

By the way, just to let you guys know, I'm openly heterosexual.

Carry on.

......if you ask a question, be ready for a response. Don't be so hard headed that when you ask a question you already know what you want to hear. Won't work. If you go to boot, and pass, you will learn an instant willingness to obey orders, and that includes a big cup of you know what.

Hey cvill,

Have you ever thought about taking a martial arts class? They are great for creating focus and confidence. Just remember that most martial arts taught are for sports and not combat - not that some parts aren't transferable but if you try one that gets a blackbelt in 2 years you probably won't be a "bad ***"
It will however get you to push yourself in ways you probably haven't even thought of yet.

Just a thought.

November 9th, 2006, 05:03 PM
but why are u giving me this thought

doubtfuldarhma
November 9th, 2006, 05:23 PM
Because you lack focus and seem less than confident.
