I'm thinking about joining the NG while going to college at the same time. I have some questions
1. I will be majoring in paralegal for college. Are there good careers in the NG that I could do in the legal fields such as paralegal?
2. I will also be starting college in Jan. Can I sign up before then and do boot camp in the summer?

There are many benefits to joining the Guard and having them pay for college. There is tuition reimbursement for existing student loans and some states (such as Maryland) that offer 100% college tuition paid if attending a state run college or university. There is also the College First program (http://www.marylandguard.net/college_first.shtml) where you are not deployable for up to 2 years while attending college.

There is MOS 27D - PARALEGAL SPECIALIST available for enlistment. I don't know the availability in your state, so it's hard to say whether the MOS is currently available. MEPS counselors can tell you more. You can view a complete MOS listing here: http://www.marylandguard.net/mos_list.shtml

In the DEP (Delayed Enlistment Program), you can enlist now and delay your BCT (Basic Combat Training) for up to one year.

If I can answer any specific questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
