What happens after the AIT/graduation?(Fort Sill) Would our son be able to ride home with us or does he go somewhere else? If Christmas Leave is 12/22/06-01/05/07, and graduation is 01/11/07, that would be a lot of money to hand out on plane tickets back to back like that. Anyone have any information on this?
Thanks,
Wisconsin Mom

The Army will provide travel arrangements to return him back to his home state. If you chose to have him ride with you and the rest of your family that cost will be borne by you. E.g. if you are on flight 1345 American Airlines and he is on flight 345 United, and you all want to get on AA to get home together - he will need to let the travel NCO know he will no longer need the United ticket. The same will be true if you elect to drive down from Wisconsin to Lawton. Long story short, he can be released to you for travel arrangements back home. Or the Army will have purchased him a airline ticket for flight back home.
Have your soldier ask the NCO that makes the travel arrangements if it would be possible to obtain the flight information. I would say he will take a bus ride from Ft Sill to OKC and fly out of Will Rogers World Airport (OKC). There will be only a handful of airline companies that fly routes from OKC to Wisconsin.
Good luck and congrats to your soldier!
