If A person does the try one does this mean you would be on the Irr for 7 years if you choose not to reenlist?

The "Try One" enlistment option is only available to Prior Service applicants. If the applicant has a remaining MSO (Eight Years from initial enlistment date) then they will be placed in the IRR for the remainder of the 8 years. Prior service soldiers have already served a portion (if not all of their initial 8 years) so they would only be in the IRR for the balance of that time. If they have not already completed their original 8 year MSO, then they are probably already in the IRR.

I am prior service. My Irr is over many years ago. Im starting over and wondering if I would have 7 years Irr after a try one.

For you it will be just a one year contract. That's all. I recommend this to prior services who are unsure and do not want to commit long term. Be aware that you can reenlist at any time during the Try One since you'll be within the 12 months window.
The only time I don't recommend it is when the prior service can get an Affiliation Bonus ($20,000).

I have a quick question about the try one also. Will the Army send you to WTC and AIT during that one year or do they wait to see if you sign for more and then send you? What about choosing a job? Will they wait to see if you sign for more before letting you pick a job?

Its a gamble, but if your intent is to deploy like so many of my Marine brethen to include myself I do recomend the Try One with the intent of renelisting in the combat zone. There are no taxes. You 'gain' 30%.
I also do want to point out that the IRR total is 8 years. Your recruiter will com****te your total time served and subtract that fro mthe day you enlist and you will be given a new pay entry based date that reflects that time. It is that total time minus 8 that you must reamin in the IRR. (minus the year from the try one).
Do keep in mind stop loss. you can always be retained.
Do keep in mind you can be deployed from the IRR.
You will not go to MOSQ school until after the year if not OJT qualifed (if possible in your MOS, past MOS) by that point.
You will attend WTC if you are prior Navy or Air force. Marines and Army are not required.
