security clearance

I'm waiting until my recruiter gets back from recruiter school to take my physical but what if my security clearance hasn't come thru yet am I still able to sign up for my mos? And what if (God forbid) I don't get the clearance I need? Can I change my mos or is it whatever they want?
Just some panic questions. Thanks.

This happened to a guy I went to AIT with. He originally went to school for something to do with the Bradley...probably crewman or whatever. I'm not sure if he had already completed the training, or whether it was in the middle of his school, but they yanked him out and threw him into 92Y when his clearance didn't come back. I think that it turned out he had a drug issue or something in the past and it came back to bite him.

In other words, I'm guessing that if/when it comes back denied, they'll find some place to put you.

I don't have any arrests - no speeding tickets left on my license. But I don't have the best credit rating ( only fair but working on it) Also had a crazy brother that killed himself and a foreign national as a father. Would any of that keep me out for security?

Crazy brother and foreign national as a father would not be helpful, but I don't know that they would necessarily disqualify you. Credit rating may also be a factor, but don't know how big.

I know that for the top, top security clearance ratings, you can't even let someone hear you fart in kindergarten.
