I notice the branches may waiver my case from time to time, so if anyone can help me in any state please let me know. I am 33 in Florida with an OTH, KFS, RE-4. I went AWOL from basic for personal reasons at home with my ex-wife at the time and dicharged in 02'. I was going in as an MP, but so much for that now. I really want to go back in the military but I see so many contradictions from people on these forums, I wonder if it's possible. Can anyone help me out?

the best advice i have for you is go see a recruiter locally with dd214 in hand, if possible, and be ready to tell him or her everything. but remember this is a sales call! Sell what you have to offer the service...

employment history
life experience
and the need for the service to put on more people.....

good luck,

Current enlistment criteria states that prior service applicants with an Other Than Honorable (OTH) discharge are not eligible for enlistment into the Army National Guard.

I too have an OTH, RE-3 KFS. I tried to enlist in the guard this spring but was told by 2 recruiters that the guard is not taking OTH's due to the current enlistment regs. I then contacted a Army Reserves recruiter an he said that they were taking OTH's with waivers under their current enlistment regs. I did all the paperwork and got the "GO" on my waiver for renlistment with my OTH, RE-3 KFS, but later was shot down due to a DUI I had 4 years ago. They said that they would waiver the discharge OR the DUI, but not both together. That was my last chance for now, unless regs change. If you really want back in try talking to a Reserve recuiter. I don't know what your MOS is, but there are no combat arms jobs in the Army Reserves. If you want in bad enough, try the Reserves and enlist for the minimmum required enlistment, then go in the National Guard. Again, I know for a fact the Army Reserves is taking OTH's because I just tried it about 1 1/2 months ago. Good Luck!! I'm tring everything I can to get back in, wish me luck! And Good Luck to you!
