I'm enlisting in the National Guard and will be going to BCT next summner and AIT soon after. Following that, I will be going to college and hope to do ROTC during this time. I was wondering if I did ROTC, when I was done with college, would I be able to switch to Active Duty and be an officer? I was confused because I'd be going from an E-2 to being an officer. And I'm starting to ramble, so I'll stop now and hope somebody has an answer for me!

Yes, it is possible. Be careful what financial incentives you accept during ROTC, however, because each incentive will have a service obligation associated with it. If you don't intend to serve the time, then don't take the money. For example, your state might have a state tuition assistance that carries an obligation to that state, and that obligation isn't fulfilled with active duty service. Ditto for a bonus. There is no free money. Ask twice about service obligations before you take the money.

I thought ROTC was applicable to anyone going to, or going into college? I had planned on transferring to get my bachelors degree in criminal justice, with a minor in military science...but was told I am too old at 23. Any clarification would be helpful.

Who told you that 23 is too old? ROTC will commission you up to age 30. What college is this?

I requested information from the Army ROTC website link, where I had to fill in the personal information. Got a letter and a pamphlet back, the letter stating that my age exceeded the minimum requirement. I wish I would have kept it to tell you the exact wording, but out of frustration, I threw it out. Basically it was a "thanks, but no thanks" type letter.
I initially intended to transfer to Ferris State University or Central Michigan University.
Is there someplace else I should go for information? I believe the original link I went to was provided on this forum when I asked for info.

I just went back through and went to the link. I am going to re-request information on the ROTC. If I get the same response as the first time, I will keep the letter and send you a message with what it says. Maybe that will help you guide me better, know what I mean?
I will let you know!
