I was there from May to July of '98. It was hot. It was humid. It was sandy. It was hot.
But it was hardly "****". Just drink water when they tell you to drink water and you'll be fine.

Back in ~87-88 I was in the Navy in Charleston and went to see a friend graduate from Ft. Jackson. I drove up a day early to find out where everything was. While exploring I saw a HUGE structure, some tower made up of telephone poles, etc. Talk about a grown-up playground! I started climbing all over the thing. (Navy didn't have fun stuff like that! We just had a pool)
Anyway...I was on top and heard some guy screaming at me to get off of his &^$^%^$ tower. Some big dude (probably a DI) was down there with his platoon, squad or whatever... I yelled for him to come MAKE ME! Once the guy was about 1/2 way up, I high tailed it out of there! (Momma didn't raise no fool!) None of the recruits even tried to stop me.
I don't know anything about Ft. Jackson, but they have a truly fun jungle gym!

I called my buddy last night. He said it was called the Victory Tower. Funny thing, because of weather, his class never got to climb it, but I did!

I have an old work friend. I've since moved to a different company, but still keep in contact with him. He is prior service. When I didnt know yet that my bct/ait would be held at Fort Jackson, I just told him women only go to one of two basic training sites. He had gone to Fort Jackson for his basic training. All he said was....I hope you get sent to Fort Jackson, and you will love Victory Tower. And had a creepy laugh after saying it. lol I can just imagine! I do like physical challenges, and i'm not afraid of heights, so it didnt scare me.....that much. :) Now that seven day Victory Forge....that one has me a tad worried. Not so much the 15k march, but everything leading up to it. Oh well, adapt and learn. :)
