My step-daughter has been boot camp for about a month and a half. My wife and have been trying to figure out what to get her for Christmas. We thought about a Kindle but we're not sure what she will be allowed to have with her. Any ideas would be appreciated.
PS: She loves it!

She could have it afterward during AIT. I'd opt for an IPad though. More flexibilty for options and apps.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't send her anything outside of a nice card. As much as she'd appreciate any gift over the Christmas Holiday, I think a gift would better suit her once she completes basic training and can use nearly anything you offer her. Anything you send her, as you've stated, may not be allowed; or might get stolen, broken, or simply be sent back to you for use later. So I wouldn't go through the effort until she's graduated.
