Howdy,
I am debating whether to go active duty or to join the Arizona ARNG. I would like to become an Army Aviator. As far as I can tell, I can enlist active duty and get a slot for WOCS/WOFT as long as I qualify, but I am unsure if the ARNG is the same way. Can someone enlist directly to get a 153A warrant officer slot, or do they usually have to be in the unit for a period of time first? Thanks for any help.

You can not become a warrant officer without going thru the enlisted process so no matter what service (active/guard/reserves) the min chance to apply for warrant is E-5

You're thinking of technical warrants, not flight warrants. There is no minimum rank to apply for flight school. In fact, there are upper rank and age limits, so the sooner one applies the better.
Speak with your state's Officer Strength Manager.

As non-prior service, you can enlist under the OCS enlistment option. Army Aviatiors do not have to be Warrant Officers. They can also be commissioned officers. Talk to the recruiter of the Aviation unit to see what your options are.

Correct me if I'm wrong....but don't you also have to have a college degree for OCS? I'm also trying to find out info for 153A WO. However, I'm 31 so I think I might be over the age limit. The regular army is taking up to age 33 by board time.... is the age limit for flight training still 27 for ANG?
Thanks... Kelly
