I'm prior service in from the Mass National Guard and am looking into the possibility of getting back into my old unit. When I was in I was a 67N working on UH-1 Hueys and occasional Cobras and Blackhawks. Well long story short my unit now only has UH-60 Blackhawks so my MOS 67N is no longer. Is this an OTJ transition or do I need to go to school to be qualified for the new MOS(15T)? How long is the school and where? Would it be a regular AIT school or is there something just for people transitioning from one aircraft to a newer one? I'm trying to figure out if it is something I can do or not with my current commitments (financial and school currently) so any info would be appreciated.

Chip,
67N was actually converted to 15M and there are still some Guard units with UH-1 Hueys around. I can give you as an example Det1, 249th Medical Company in Rhode Island which has positions for 15M (67N). Have you checked with any other unit in MA to see if there's any still using Hueys?
In any case, if you don't mind traveling to RI, I can check for openings if you're willing to travel. I know they had a few openings not long ago so there may still be vacancies. Give me a call or send me an email if you're interested.

A friend of mine (still in the guard) is setting up her GRAP so that she can get credit for "recruiting" me. Soon as she finishes that I should be hearing from a local recruiter. I recently (from looking online) found out that 67N changed to 15M. I'm waiting to hear from the recruiter (hopefully soon so I can figure out what I'm doing) and then I'm going to ask if there are any 15M slots left around. Thanks for the info, I don't suppose 15M is on the RI critical MOS list? Where in RI are the units (just in case there are non in Mass). I did work on Cobras and very little on Blackhawks before I ETS'd out. Here's a question for you.. when a unit transitions from Hueys to say Blackhawks..... do they send each mechanic/crew chief from that unit to school again or do they do OJT? Just curious as I find it unlikely that they'd send every mech back to AIT.

I'll also email this to you... thanks.
