I am enlisted and I will be leaving this coming Tuesday (17th) for Basic.. but my parents and girlfriend have a couple questions.. Parents: Do I recieve Health Insurance throughout my 8 years and if I do what kind/coverage do I get? Girlfriend: Since I will be at Basic during Christmas she along with my parents would like to know when I get leave for Christmas.. My parents would like to buy the ticket in advance..

Christmas exudus i do not know the exact days but you will have like 10 to 15 days of leave, you will find those dates down at basic and when you call or write home you can inform them of the dates. Also any time your on active duty you recieve health insurance, now when you are part time you are only covered on the days that you are drilling ie weekend drill and AT. But there is a new program where as a part time drilling soldier you can pay for if you so choose, for health insurance and dental at cheaper rates than civilian plans. You will still be going to military doctors. The health insurance we use is call TriCare.
