I am going in as 68W/91W Combat Medic and you get a $20,000 sign-on bonus. Also, I read you may be eligible for student loan repayment. You should give your recruiter a call. Sounds like it would be a good move. Good luck!!

In addition to the $20,000 bonus and student loan repayment, you can enlist as an E-4 (SPC) because of your degree. You may also want to consider the OCS enlistment option to become a medical officer. Definitely talk to a recruiter and ask about both of these options and determine which is better for you.

as far as becoming a medical officer, thats not going to happen unless u have some kinda health degree (BA, BS). Medical assistant does not count.

Exvet, be nice. The person did say they got a degree. Before I worked in a psych hospital I probably would have automatically thought 4 year degree too. Not everyone knows that medical assistants usually get a non-college career training diploma to become a medical assistant. Some community colleges may offer it as an option with an Associates degree as well. While most likely this person got the diploma, they may have done an AA (thus calling it a degree). If this person did mean AA, I believe one can do OCS in the Guard with 60 college credits. Anyway, most people aren't aware of med assisting requirments and would probably see that this person said degree and think BA/BS.
snxboardchk, talk to a recruiter about your options. This link is to the Army Recruiting website's medical job list for some ideas: http://www.goarmy.com/JobCatDetail.do?id=9

I understand Chaim, this andrew individual seems to have a problem with my post and somehow afetr debate they turn out to be true, like for example the CF option. I just want people in this post to have a full view of the benefits they are getting. But I am also very aware that recruiters are military salesmen and saleswomen.
