I have been thinking about joining NG for a while and i really want to do it, but then there are times when i doubt my decision to actually really the wheels turning. I just want to know if you have been in, did you go through the same feelings, one minute your gun ho about doing it and then the next minute you aren't quite sure!!

Yeah, it is called life. You are about to make a decision that will impact the rest of your life. If you go into it lightly, you are messed up form the beginning. Do not be afriad to take time and consider whether this is for you or not.

I went through a month of that actually. Now I leave for MEPS tomorrow. About three months after starting to look into the National Guard. I think what you are going through is called...life experiences. Young children just do things, because they have nothing to base their actions on. You have a lifetime of experiences to base your actions on now. There is nothing wrong with being thorough and looking at every angle. An hour would only pass and I would go from....knowing it is whan I need/should/and am going to do....to, how in the world did I even come up with the idea. It would be nice if it was an easy conclusion and you just knew it was what you were supposed to do. But I dont think it means you are any less ready for it if you question yourself and your decision. Scientifically, I wasnt just making that statement up. Its your experiences, previously, that are making you question yourself. You may have seen or heard something about the military in the past, and now you are deciding if you can do those things. The unknown is likely a culprit. Dont make a rash decision. I spend probably over 100 hours researching evey angle, event, and process that may or may not happen if I made this decision (meps, drills, deployment, basic, military job, personal issues....) before deciding. Being well prepared may help you make your final decision.
Just my two and a half cents worth. :)

I was like that for a while. Now im 100% commited. There is not a doubt in my mind that this is EXACTLY what I want for my life right now.
Its just my parents...hahah.. In due time though...the sooner the better, i just keep whimping out whenever i try and talk to them about it.

DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF ! I wanted to join the Marines when I was 17yrs. old. Just like you I had doubts and this made it easier to let my friends and family talk me out of it. In my mind I thought " I can just join later." Now it is 20 yrs later I am 37 yrs. old and joined the National Guard. I did not want to get too old and have to live with the regret that I did not persue what I wanted. Look inside yourself find that piece or your soul that motivated you to consider The National Guard in the first place, let it guide you. Believe me I still have my moments of doubt too but think of the positives that service to your country will bring for your country, your family and you.
