Do I attend AIT if I have same MOS skills from Marine Corps?

I was an 0431 (Logistics Embarkation Specialist) in the Marine Corps. I was told that if I go into the National Guard as an 92Y (Unit Supply Specialist) that I would not have to attend any training.

It seems kind of odd that I could step straight into drills, not even having the training from the Army side of the house vs. the Marine Corps. Especially since I will be stepping into the NG as an E-5.

You have the basic skills from prior training, more than likely you'll just get on the job training to show you the differences between services. There are alot of proir service marines in the Army NG and reserves.

Odd? Try it without a uniform! You will! It will take a bit to get them.

You've already been through the indoctrination phase and the OJT savfes you and the taxpayer money by captilizing on your prior education. In some case, but not all, they OJT as a refresher and then on the Army uniqueness.

Much of it is the same.

The close order drill is differnt, half left vs. oblique,etc.......

it'll come to you quickly, like trying to speak a second language, and pretty soon, you think in it.....

He is correct. With this many former Marines, it should be called the Marine Guard :) in the least we should get our own badge or tab!:)

There are things about both that I love and I'd fight to the death for either!

That true if your stepping into a infantry related field, good for you! However, if the job technical, you obvisouly need AIT training. Its like giving a jarhead a hammer, nail and a piece of wood, for the most part he can hit the hammer easily into the wood, but ask him to build something with no training and he lost.
