Irr?

I plan on getting out of the Guard in Dec '06. I will still have two years in the IRR until Dec '08. Does anyone have any info or stats of how the IRR actually works. I don't feel I'm gettin an honest answer from anyone I ask around here. Everyone says if you go into the IRR you'll be called-up and deployed within months. Does anyone know if that's true? Do they call up based on MOS? If so, is 19K a risky one? Does it matter if you just got back from a deployment? I thought they had a rule that a Guard member couldn't be deployed for more than 24 months in any 5 year period; is that still in effect? Is it in effect if you change from Guard to IRR? Sorry about the long post. I just have lots of questions, and don't feel I'm getting good answers from leadership around here.

I do not recommend staying in the IRR in this day and age. I don't have statistics, but I do have half a dozen sad stories about people only a year back from Iraq who got mobilized again from the IRR. In the IRR, you have all the risks of service and none of the benefits.

Personally, I recommend staying in the Guard until your MSO is complete, and then deciding whether to stay in longer or get out completely.
