I was just looking through all of the reasons MEPS can disqualify you and under

Dental it says.....d. Orthodontic appliances for continued treatment (attached or removable). Retainer appliances are permissible, provided all active orthodontic treatment has been satisfactorily completed.

Now I have recently been evaluated and had impressions made for Invisilign (they're clear plastic trays that straighten your teeth) but HAVE NOT received the trays yet or started wearing them. They said it would take 8 weeks for them to come in...

Is this a reason I could be disqualified, as in for just having ordered them, or can I talk to my orthodontist to have them 'put on hold' until a later date? I had a braces as a kid and my teeth have moved just slightly, so I was going to correct it....but not if it is going to keep me out of the Guard!

Don't worry about it, this is an issue you will document on your medical prescreening sheet, then you will have a fun day at meps.

Really at this point if you want to move forward, you need to contact a recuriter, or fill out the online application. Don't worry yourself with wether or not you're qualified, that's between you and your recruiter.

That's why they get paid the big bucks.

The issue isnt that a person would need the braces or whatever the word is for them, its that they dont feel you can go through training with them on. Talking to dentist and just ordering them is not a DQ. I'm no expert and have nothing to back that up, but makes sense to me. lol

Thats kind of what I figured so I told my orthodontist to officially 'stop treatment' in my record, but hold onto my impressions until a later date. So I am not in 'active treatment'; it was purely for vanity and not need anyway.

Brownie points for all of the research you are doing to prepare for enlistment...

However, you are seeming to really sweat the details, and unless something is changed, you do not plan to go in to a MEPS location any time soon. As the previous poster pointed out, you need to actually sit down with your lists and questions at an ARNG recruiting station, with a recruiter. This site is no substitute for that, aside form the fact that there are several qualified recruiters and career counselors in the forum who can give you a lot of good information and pointers - Nothing can beat the face to face, and nothing can substitute for it either.

If you have changed your mind on an enlistment date option to earlier than later, then you need to expedite getting with a recruiter - if that date is still somewhere off in the future, do not allow yourself to become a regulation hypochondriac - being armed with information is one thing, but as a recruit (potential recruit) it is not your job to sweat details, only to keep your recruiter informed and updated - and then respond for info and status requests in a timely manner.

Again brownies and bacon for your zeal - take a deep breath and relax - then schedule an appointment with a recruiter, even if you do not project trying to get into MEPS for months...

You've missed it, we've swayed her! She's ready to sign up sooner rather than later now! :) She's left messages for recruiters and waiting for a call back.

If she's going to do it sooner is going to be better than later.

Oh yeah! I talked with my local OCS Recruiter on the phone today for an hour and he answered all my questions, even the above. I AM enlisting sooner, now in fact, (over the next couple weeks) Meeting with the recruiter this Friday then going to take my ASVAB. Will be enlisting 09s under the DEP to ship to BCT in June, will do my RSB in Owosso. Will go to BCT with 78 credits, begin traditional OCS after AIT (for 56M) and after one more semester will have my 90 to go to accelerated OCS (G*d willing) which go in January (right when I'll hit 90 credits) to hopefully then be commissioned.

Will be continuing training 6 days a week to burn off allthe bacon sandwich's LRSU_Dog has me hooked on :D

I'm Ready! Aaaaannd I found out there are hand to hand combat levels up to 5 & 6 even! (thought they maxed out at level 2) so THAT should be fun to pursue!
