I served in the United States Marine Corps from 90-93 (3 years and 10 months) and was honorably discharged as a E5/SGT. I was separated with a RE-3P / JFL1 code due to falling arches in my feet. I was told to either have surgery or take a medical discharge, which I took the later. I was told that eventually the pain and symptoms would go away and I could re-enlist with a wavier. I was given severance pay by the Marine Corps and a disability percentage (20%...I think) but never requested any funds from the VA.
I have no symptoms now as I run 2-3 miles 3 times a week and am 6-2 and 185 lbs. I am now 35 years of age and would like to join the National Guard here in Florida. I have read about the medical waivers but they all seem to need a history of doctor treatment regarding the reason you were discharged. My issue went away on it own and I have no history of medical treatment. So where does this leave me?
I have over 10 years LEO experience (4 SWAT) and my BA Degree in Criminal Justice.
Thanks for any info,
