For those current and past Army, USAR, or ARNG soldiers who are attending, or planning to attend, any college program - it might be considered very helpful if you have a copy of the AARTS transcript sent to your school.

I do not know if this will work with those who previously served in the USAF, USMC or USN - they may have branch specific processes in place - but it does cover all training that applies while serving in any component of the Army.

You could just have credit transferred to you that may apply to either your program or general requirements. You can view an unofficial version on the website.

To add to that, you can send all of your transcripts, military training, etc. to the Education center at PEC in arkansas and they'll evaluate everything and send you different degree plans for different schools that you may be close to achieving. They can choose plans for you based either on your carreer choice or also just based on what degree you could finish fastest based on what training you already have. They'll send your aarts transcript to the school for you. Here is the link. they sent me about 5 or 6 different plans from different schools that I could try to do.

Great info. by the both of you, thanks. I just had my school evaluate my military training and got 25+ credits. It took about 3-4 weeks (school's process), but was well worth it. I also received 7 more credits from my school for Basic (Health/Gym).

I will add, this totally is up to your school. I went to two different colleges while I was getting my degree and was only given credit for 6 hours of PT.

Others I know were only given the credits if it applied towards the degree they were seeking.

Awesome info, thanks. I've seen multiple times different schools give very different amount of credit for military training, shop around.

Yes, each college will be different. I started out at a "Serviceman's Opportunity College" (Metro-State College of Denver) and only got about 6CR for military on ARRTS, and 12 credits for language for attending DLI.

When I transferred to the Universtity of Colorado at Boulder, I got 18 for military (same ARRTS transcript + or - based on the MOS's listed for positions held through that point) and 43 credits for Language based on the exact same DLI transcript.

Go figure... Each time you add an MOS, a duty position of different MOS or rank, or a major military school, re-submit a new updated ARRTS transcript to your school for additional consideration.

I'm having trouble getting my current transcripts from AARTS. They list my BCT and the recommended credits for it, but they have not updated it with 68W school info. I have until 5 OCT to turn all of my transcripts in to my school. I can't get AARTS to respond to any emails. I even contacted ACE to verify the credit recommendation (they just evaluated the 68W10 program in July). Any thoughts on what I can do to get my transcript fixed?

I did contact the VMET records office. They keep current records of our education also. The rep there suggested I send my school copies of my graduation certificates and the ACE credit recommendation and let them work it out. I'm trying that route now.

You can mail copies of all your orders for an MOS, ASI/SSI, military schools attended and so forth. I am not sure if emailing will help - however, that said, they will review what they do and do not have, and then update your transcript.

I actually did this (sent copies of every military school and training program I have gone to) and they updated what could be, and those military courses that did not, or could not be evaluated (such as Jungle Warefare School) was listed on the last page as "attended but not evaluated".

Even in today's technologial world, a letter requesting an evaluation and some copies of official paperwork, and a postage stamp can actually get things done.
