My son is at Fort Sill. His basic started Sept. 22, for cannon crewmember.
Unit BTY A 1-120 Rear. What do I need to look for when checking graduation dates? Here are my options: A/1-19, B/1-79, or G/1-40 for Nov. 17.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about anyone else but when my brother was in basic he wrote us telling us when his expected graduation date was. We didn't find out anything until about a month after he left. We also got a letter from his company with details about everything. I hope that helps.

Contact his Drill Sgt, same address, if he's not writing home. Most troops write frequently and have the graduation date memorized.
Not writing home is a cardinal sin in Basic training. When I was in Basic, one yound troop was not writing mom. His mother contacted the drills to let them know that "she would appreciate it if he could have a little time to write home."

I remember when my brother was in BCT (many years ago). Several weeks had gone by without a letter, mom had written his CO, and gotten one letter after that. She finally called the base chaplain and asked what they had done with my brother's body, since he wasn't writing home. He was called into the CO's office, made to write a letter that day, and report there once a week for the remainder of BCT, to write home. He is still ticked off at mom to this day (he does hold a grudge REALLY well), but mom got her letters! Lesson to you all, write your mother!!:D

That's awesome! Way to go, mom! If my mom did that I'll still hold a grudge too! As if Basic Training isn't stressful enought without your "mommy" calling your drill SGT and telling on you!
When I left for Basic training, my mother told me to call collect as often as I could. The third time I called her, she told me I should get a calling card. That week, I got a calling card from the PX, and never called her again until right before graduation. That showed her!:p

Thanks for the information to all who responded.
I actually received a letter from my son, not a lot of information though. I also received a packet from his Commander with a information packet in it with dates and times. I guess I needed to be a little more patient. I would never contact his Drill Sergeant, I would just tell him that's what I was going to do if he didn't write. That would be enough for him.

Hi there,
Just wonderin' where about in Wisconsin you were. Anywhere in the central WI area? Or Chippewa Falls area? Just curious. I go to MEPS on the 13th and will be RSPing in central Wisconsin, then Unit will either be Marshfield (pretty much in the middle of the state) or Chippewa Falls. RSP will be in Stevens Point until basic.

Becky,
I am from a little town in central Wisconsin call Necedah. My son will also do his guards in Marshfield. We don't expect him home from basic and AIT until the middle of Jan. 2007. The weather up here will be totally different than Oklahoma that time of year.

Thats really close to here. I'm in Wisconsin Rapids. My unit is either going to be Marshfield also, Wausau, or Chippewa Falls. My recruiters cousin is the recruiter at the Marshfield Unit and just told me of an open medic slot. I wasnt interested in that field, but am thinking about it now. I have to know by MEPS on Friday. I'll RSP in Stevens Point though until after basic/AIT, and that wont be until almost a year from now. Then I'll get to my unit. Might see him there!
