well im in the army right now active duty deployed to afgh. im stationed at ft bragg nc 82nd abn div. my current contract is out march 8th 2012 and i was looking into going az ng so i can go to school full time and still have the option to go back active duty afterwards. i just would like to know if i could go ng if i renlist, if i get to go to school full time(say a deployment comes up and im in school) how would my pay work. i know i get drill pay and its not like my check now. BAH BAS? probably not and i have heard its only on deployments. when and if i go ng will the army help me move to PCS to az? ok there are some more questions i have but i will leave it at this to get started and see if someone answers. thanks -SPC Fox

What's your current MOS and what MOS's does the AZ NG need
if i get to go to school full time(say a deployment comes up and im in school) how would my pay work.
It would the same as you get on Active Duty
i know i get drill pay and its not like my check now. BAH BAS?
You would only get BAH/BAS if you were on orders, otherwise, for a normal drill you would just get your normal drill pay
probably not and i have heard its only on deployments.
when and if i go ng will the army help me move to PCS to az?
This would depend on your current HOR. If your HOR is in AZ, then the Army will pay you to move. If your HOR was in NC, then you'd end up paying out of pocket for the move.
ok there are some more questions i have but i will leave it at this to get started and see if someone answers. thanks -SPC Fox

Being AD and deployed does qualify him for Post 9/11 GI Bill which pays BAH while you are in school, right?

Brandon, you should start classes at a place like UoP close to Ft. Bragg after you get back from deployment. That way you can work toward a degree in your free time (with the Army paying 100% of your tuition while you are in and thus saving money from your GI Bill for a higher-higher education).

redleg thanks a lot. speaking of thats what i am. 13D. so who would i have to talk to to see is azng would need/use a 13D wounld that fall under branch/branch manager?? az is my HOR so thats a plus the army would help me move. and one of my questions you kinda choped up but it was about if im a full time student lets say at PVCC and a deployment came up for the ng unit i was in would i have to drop school and go? i have heard many things on this subject and dont know what would be considered correct. i just want to know if i do/can go ng i wont be there for 3 months and then have to deploy.. like it was when i got to bragg.. but ya let me know thanks a lot again.

Brandon-
You can try and contact a reserve liaison now and find out what slots are open in AZ. Unless there's been a change, the NG cannot officially do anything with you until you're within 30 days of your ETS (something to do with the NG could get stuck paying your check). Or if you have a decent amount of leave built up, take terminal leave and talk to a recruiter when you get back to AZ.
AZ used to have quite a bit of FA so you may be able to find a slot. Being MOS qualified really helps when you come into the RC.
I cannot speak for the NG but the USAR offers a two year stabilization for Soldiers like you. This maybe something to check into.

redleg- thanks again for the help. ill get with the retention NCO here in country to see some options. i dont really know all the details between AR and NG like pros and cons between so i will get that info when ever we run a mission up that way. i do know that if i go AR i wouldnt fall under the state and sounds better to me. seem like less BS. but its the army still there will be that anywere(i mean c'mon im in the 82nd) but ya i will look into this and just get eith my RRNCO here and figure some options out. if anyone else thinks of something let me know please. thanks again redleg.
