Here's a hypothetical situation.
Let's say I was in the branch which is usually not a combat job. (Combat support or service support) What would be the difference between being attached to a combat unit, and being attached to a non combat unit?
Thanks!

Well, thanks for the replies.
But what is the difference between a combat unit and a non combat unit?

The way it was explained to me a looong time ago is location, location, location. A combat arms unit is more likely to be sent to an area where conflict is likely, whereas a non-combat arms unit will normally stay in a rear area where conflict is less likely.

Except that the modern battlefield is non-linear, which means support units get hit more than infantry units.
A support job in a combat unit is usually going to be one of two things. Either in the HHC, which means you're doing staff/admin tasks on the FOB. Or a log type job in the forward support company, which means convoys.
