I'm applying for a Signal MOS and all of the WOBC courses appear to be at Ft. Gordon, GA. In speaking with my state WOSM, WOBC students are TDY the entire time and can only collect per diem. Additionally, it seems as if the NG students do a phase at a time, going there and home at least 3 times.

Wanting to be thorough, I've sifted through the Ft. Gordon and other WO-related sites and came up with nothing to support that students do not receive BAH/BAS. I have a mortgage and family to support here at home (San Diego) and per diem isn't going to scratch it.

Can anyone verify this or point me towards a document that spells this out?
Much appreciated.

It's the law. You should be able to find more details on the dfas website I think.

If you're on short orders, you'll get BAH type 2 (which *****). If you're on orders over 30 days then you'll get full BAH. If you're going to a place that provides meals then you'll get BAS on one side & have it taken away on the other. If not, then you'll get per diem. The difference between TDY & PCS is TDY you'll get the BAH rate for home, versus PCS you get the rate at school (much lower).

That's great news! I'll look it up on DFAS today.

This would have prevented me from moving forward to tell the truth. Very little else would but we just bought our place last August. It would have been impossible to think of turning around and selling it just like that.

Thank you!

You'll get BAS/BAH for your time at OBC. What really will vary is the per diem for food. Some posts are going to a system where they provide mess facilities for students, and you don't get the full per diem. Others, you get the full per diem.

OBC probably won't take your BAS as you'll pay as you eat. Ie you need to pay the $4 or so every meal you eat.

The 255A is 3 phases that are each 8 weeks, so that makes it extra confusing.I assume I would be TDY with BAH for my home station. If there are any signal warrants around or if anyone has a buddy who is, please let me hear from you.
Thanks, RedLeg. That was helpful, too.

You'll get full BAH/BAS then for your school time. Your biggest issue probably will be getting school seats.

Per diem questions, you'll probably have to talk to someone who's recently been there or talk to the NG/USAR rep at the school.
