I have been reveiwing the info posted online and have a few questions regarding the National Guard Rotary Wing Aviator Program. I was active Army for 3 years, 1996-1999 and was honorably discharged at grade E-4. I am currently 32 years old. Is it possible to be granted waivers for both the rank and age requirements. Thanks for your help.

I'm still in active army with 1 yr left. SSG, 11B, Bradley master gunner. inquiring about WO aviator in th National Guard. I sent packet for Active army but age waiver have been disapproved 3 times. I am 37 yrs old. Also have a civilian rotary wing private pilot license with 60+ hrs of flight. Is there a better chance for me in the Guard? Thanks for your suggestion

Your chances are improved in the Guard, but still extraordinarily poor. I recommend that your pursue a different career path in the Guard.

I know they say 2% age waivers are granted. What are the chances of getting an age waiver for someone like myself. I'm 33, bachelors degree, and 10,000+ hours of fixed wing flight time? Would I more likely get an age waiver going OCS or Warrent Officer? Thanks.

With your experiance you would more likely get a age waiver for warrent officer. You could become a officer but your chances of getting to fly are less

You have a better chance (but don't go buy a flight suit just yet). As a private pilot, you have demonstrated the capacity to succeed, and so you're a better risk.

I strongly recommend contacting your state OSM (http://www.1800goguard.com/officer/osm.html), and get moving on a Warrant Officer packet.

Thanks, I'm a commercial airline pilot now with all the ratings and licenses. If I go OCS, do you have to get sponsored by a unit first, like with the Air Guard? Also, does the guard give aviation slots for OCS before joining like the Warrant Officers?

I can't give you guidance at that level of granularity. You really need to have this conversation with your state's OSM (http://www.1800goguard.com/officer/osm.html). A state can only give you what is has to give, so make that call today.
