I just joined an Infantry unit. My unit is an hour and a half from my home. Provided we are not in the feild or training, where will I stay? Can I crash at the armory? or are there barracks? What about chow?
I have no initial issue (uniforms) as I am prior service. What do I show up in or need to bring to drill?

I'd like to know that too.

Those are all issues you'll have to take up with your unit. Some armories have barracks that you can stay at. As far as the uniform issue, you should call your unit supply SGT ASAP so they can order you uniforms. Otherwise, you'll be doing your first drill in civillian clothes.

I thought I answered my own q here already. Sorry.
I had to show up in civvies. I was fitted for uniforms and they were ordered. Luckily, a large shipment had just come in of the ACU and I got a trade out from a UA/separated former Soldier. Bad news is without Ta-50 gear, also ordered, I could not go with my unit to the field so I commuted 270 miles. It was a three day drill. No problem. I could have racked out on the deck I suppose and the drive home was only an hour one way.
The larger issue is that we need to engineer a system where once an enlistment is confirmed the uniforms/gear are automatically ordered. With one weekend a month/one annual training opportunity, we must take full advantage of every single one. The loss of time could be avoided by a more comprehensive supply system. Of course being prior service and basic exempt, I am probably the exception. In any event, I am a Soldier and I was somewhat de-motivated not having one. Nonetheless, it’s corrected and I look smashing in my ACUs yet just a pathfinding thought for the future Soldiers that are coming through.
