My unit is getting deployed to Iraq for a year and I've heard rumors when you demob you have the option to all kinds of school like airborne, air-assault, etc. Can anyone who has been deployed or mobilized before tell me if this is true or not. Thanks

good q. I am instred in knowing as well. and add:
I know you can still apply for OCS and not get discriminated for being in a war zone (not your fault and not to hold you back) but is it the same for applying for Ranger, Basic Jump while in a combat zone?

Sometimes, slots are available to demobing units, but there is certainly no guarantee that your unit will get them, or that you will get one of the slots.
