Hey all, I am wondering if I can be deployed before or during OCS if I choose to do the 18 month state OCS option. I am hoping to do grad school and ocs at the same time, so getting deployed would be a little bit of a bummer. Nevertheless i'd be fine with it, but i just want to know. Thanks!

A Soldier may not deploy for a federal mission until fully trained. Therefore, an OCS candidate is not deployable for federal missions. Theoretically you're still subject to state missions, but that's not particularly likely -- state missions are less frequent, involve fewer Soldiers, and have durations measured in days not months.

I'm prior service (Army Reserve and NG) with a college degree, and am considering coming back in with the OCS option. I'm a bit confused, however, about how the program works, exactly...from what I understand, you can enlist with the OCS option, but it must be a minimum of a 3 year enlistment...is my understanding correct? Secondly, what types of bonuses are available with this option and am I eligible as prior service?
Thanks for any info.
